Application to the inscriptions of the routes
After this analysis of the inscriptions of the milestones, one thus sees that only the league of a value of 2450m +/- 50m makes it possible to establish an agreement between the quantified indications and the distances which one can deduce from the cartographic observations or the data of ground.
This demonstration of the use of a great league makes it possible to go further. It makes it possible to read again the routes by proposing two steps. First of all, to confirm, cancel or propose the localization of the ancient names quoted in these documents; then to clarify and if required to correct the errors due to the successive copies. We will be satisfied here with two examples.
Route of Antonin From Bordeaux in Poitiers, by Novioregum, is 288 km.
